Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture 52- Review & Swatches
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture in shade 52 has been sold out in Asia, North America, Australia and London a few months back due to the popular Korean drama- My Love From The Stars. The female lead Cheon Song-Yi (played by Jung Ji-Hyun) was reported wearing this shade from YSL in several episodes and everyone was trying to get their hands on these. Luckily I live outside London so I was able to get my hands on one of these and I've literally fell in love with this lipstick as soon as I got it.
The colour payoff is amazing, it is so pigmented. Shade 52 is mainly a pink base but there is a hint of coral/orange colour which makes it looks amazing for the Summer time. This lipstick is also very build-able, you can create a really natural colour on the lips by lightly dabbing the lipstick onto the lips. From the bullet the colour looks really bright and almost luminous looking however its not really that luminous if you just apply one layer, but if you want the luminous look then it will take around 2+ layers. On a everyday basis one layer of this lipstick will look fabulous in my opinion! I personally think that this colour makes my complexion look brighter and less "dead" looking. Oh and I absolutely love the packaging, it feels so high-end and totally worth the £25! The whole tube is made of shiny gold metal which gives it the prestigious feel and with the Yves Saint Laurent logo craved onto the lipstick lid.
As expected the lasting power is awesome, I usually apply this on my lips in the morning for school and it lasts me to around 1pm (5 hours) without needing to reapply. However the down side to this lipstick is that it is slightly drying than other satin finish lipsticks but this lipstick compared to other stain finish lipstick, the lasting power is much better because of this the lip stick does not slip and slide everywhere during the day. When my lips are feeling dry I just apply a small amount of lip balm on my lips before applying this lipstick and it still looks amazing. There are also little transfers once you have let the lipstick to fully sink in to your lips.
Overall I really early enjoyed the lipstick and I think it will be my go to lipstick for the rest of spring and summer. Even though it is expensive I think it is completely worth it. Even my mum fell in love with this shade and that says a lot since she is not really a make up person. You can get this at Boots, Feelunique.com for £25 or at Sephora for USD$35.
